Man Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault on The Woodlands Trail

Authorities Seek Additional Information Following Incident

The Woodlands, Texas—A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted sexual assault on a local walking trail, prompting authorities to seek further information from the community.

On July 17, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a woman was reportedly attacked on a public trail near the 7500 block of Alden Bridge. The suspect allegedly pushed the woman to the ground and exposed himself. A nearby resident, demonstrating quick thinking, provided deputies with the suspect's vehicle registration, which was instrumental in identifying the individual.

Following the lead, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on July 22, resulting in the arrest of Marlon Montenegro Borges. He has been charged with attempted sexual assault, a third-degree felony, and is currently held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Additionally, an ICE detainer has been placed on him.

In light of this incident, the sheriff's office is urging the public to come forward with any information regarding similar occurrences involving Borges. Detectives are actively investigating to ensure there are no other victims.

Community members have expressed heightened concern following the event. "It does scare me a little bit because I have a young daughter. When we walk, we always walk together as a family," said local resident Pilar Arias. Another trail user, who wished to remain anonymous, mentioned always carrying pepper spray, emphasizing the importance of personal safety measures.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 281-297-6565, referencing case #25A215386.

In a related incident, on May 7, 2025, deputies responded to a disturbance at Sawmill Park in The Woodlands. During the altercation, a female was assaulted, and a firearm was discharged. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities are still seeking information regarding this case and urge residents to report any relevant details.

These events have underscored the importance of community vigilance and the need for residents to remain aware of their surroundings while utilizing public spaces.
