The Woodlands Fire Department Unveils State-of-the-Art Fire Station 5

New Facility Enhances Emergency Response for Sterling Ridge and Indian Springs

The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD), in collaboration with The Woodlands Township and Montgomery County Hospital District, is set to inaugurate the new Fire Station 5/Medic 24 on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Located at 8005 McBeth Way, this modern facility signifies a substantial advancement in the community's emergency response capabilities.

Spanning 21,565 square feet, Fire Station 5 is meticulously designed to meet the demands of a growing, all-hazards fire department.

The station features 14 individual dormitories and 4.5 apparatus bays, ensuring continuous staffing while prioritizing firefighter health and operational readiness.

Serving the western regions of The Woodlands, including the Villages of Sterling Ridge and Indian Springs, the station is strategically positioned to enhance response times.

Township Chairman Brad Bailey emphasized the station's significance, stating, "The completion and opening of Fire Station 5 reflect careful planning and a shared commitment to public safety.

The station strengthens our emergency response and underscores our responsibility to invest in facilities that meet the needs of our community today while preparing for continued growth."

The facility is equipped with a comprehensive array of emergency resources, including an engine company, truck company, battalion chief, collapse rescue truck, and two emergency medical service units.

In partnership with the Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD), the station will staff one medic unit full-time, with a second peak-time unit operating daily to address higher call volumes.

Fire Chief Palmer Buck highlighted the collaborative effort, noting, "Fire Station 5 is a direct reflection of our commitment to proactive service delivery and strong regional partnerships.

This facility strengthens our response capability, enhances coordination with EMS, and ensures our firefighters and paramedics have the resources they need to serve the community effectively."

Assistant Fire Chief Doug Adams added that the station's design anticipates future growth, bringing fire and EMS services under one roof to improve coordination, reduce response times, and enhance patient care.

The station incorporates best practices in fire station planning, including clear separation of living and operational spaces, modern mechanical systems, decontamination and gear-support areas, and infrastructure to support training and specialized rescue operations.

These features collectively support firefighter safety, workforce sustainability, and long-term operational efficiency.

Community members, elected officials, and project partners are invited to attend the grand opening ceremony to celebrate this milestone for public safety in The Woodlands.

Parking is available at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride lot, adjacent to the new station.
