The Woodlands Marathon and Lake Woodlands Drive Closures in Woodlands, Texas

Traffic delays woodlands marathon are expected during race events

The Woodlands Marathon is set to take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, bringing with it significant traffic adjustments throughout the community.

Residents and visitors should anticipate notable delays along major corridors from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

To ensure a smooth experience, it's advisable to plan ahead and consider alternative routes during these hours.

Key roadways affected include:

Lake Woodlands Drive: Eastbound lanes will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. between Kuykendahl Road and Grogan's Mill Road.

During this period, westbound lanes will operate under a contra-flow system, accommodating both eastbound and westbound traffic between Lake Front Circle and Cochran's Crossing.

Research Forest Drive: Eastbound lanes will be closed, with an estimated reopening at 8:45 a.m.

Kuykendahl Road: Northbound lanes will experience closures, expected to reopen by 9:20 a.m.

Gosling Road: Both northbound and southbound lanes will be closed, with reopening anticipated at 10:15 a.m.

Additional roads impacted include Lake Robbins Drive, Grogan's Mill Road, Timberloch Place, Woodlands Parkway, East Panther Creek Drive, and West Panther Creek Drive.

For those needing to navigate the area during the marathon, the following routes are recommended:

To access The Woodlands Country Club, utilize the Lake Woodlands contra-flow lane from Grogan's Mill, then turn right onto Cochran's Crossing.

For Market Street and The Woodlands Mall, take Woodlands Parkway to I-45, proceed north on I-45, and exit at Lake Woodlands Drive.

To reach the Woodlands Resort, travel west on Woodlands Parkway from I-45, make a U-turn at East Panther Creek, then head east on Woodlands Parkway to Grogan's Mill.

For Bear Branch Sports Park, take I-45 to westbound Research Forest Drive, which remains open during the event.

It's important to note that while businesses and neighborhoods along the race route will remain accessible, only residential traffic is recommended through and around the racecourse between 6:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
