A federal judge has ordered several Texas school districts to remove Ten Commandments displays from classrooms by December 1, striking down a controversial state law mandating their presence in public schools.
Judge Orlando Garcia's preliminary injunction blocks 14 districts, including Fort Worth, Arlington, and Frisco, from enforcing Senate Bill 10, deeming the displays a violation of the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause.
The judge emphasized that protecting students from unwanted religious messages would be “impossible” without this court action.
This decision follows a lawsuit by Texas families, supported by the ACLU, who argued the law threatened religious freedom and church-state separation.

The U.S. Mint has officially ended production of the penny after more than two centuries in circulation.
The historic final batch, called Omega pennies, features a unique 'Ω' mark and includes coins from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, along with a rare 24-karat gold penny — the first gold cent ever authorized by the Mint.
Only 232 three-coin sets will be auctioned online by Stack’s Bowers Galleries on December 11, 2025, each accompanied by a serialized Certificate of Authenticity.
The decision to discontinue the penny follows a sharp rise in production costs, with each coin costing nearly four times its face value.
