Residents of The Woodlands can enjoy a stress-free trip to the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo thanks to the Rodeo Express shuttle.

Departing from the Sawdust Park and Ride at 701 Westridge Road in Spring, this direct service brings attendees straight to NRG Stadium, letting guests skip downtown Houston traffic and parking headaches.

The shuttle operates daily from February 26 to March 22, 2026, including pre-rodeo events.

Round-trip tickets cost $15 per person, with free parking at the Park and Ride.

Advanced reservations are required and must be purchased through the official Rodeo Express site or by phone.

For Conroe residents, a similar shuttle leaves from I-45 near the Central Library on Fridays and Saturdays, with tickets at $20 for adults and $10 for children under 18.

Both shuttles offer families and groups a hassle-free, convenient way to enjoy the rodeo festivities.

The Woodlands Express Park and Ride will see its round-trip fare rise from $15 to $17 starting April 1, 2026, following a recent decision by The Woodlands Township Board of Directors.

This increase follows a surge in ridership, with a 14% jump from 2024 to 2025 and a further 22% spike recorded in January 2026.

To better serve commuters, the Board authorized additional service runs, including a second midday trip to all Park and Ride locations and an extra 3:10 p.m. departure to Sterling Ridge.

The Township also secured $25 million in federal funding to replace 25 commuter buses by September 2026.

New buses will offer charging outlets, footrests, and onboard restrooms for greater passenger comfort.

An updated bus wrap, inspired by local art, nature, sports, and community, will debut with the new vehicles.

The Woodlands Township is moving forward with plans for a public golf course on the 208-acre South Gosling Tract, aiming to address a longstanding need for accessible golf.

Following comprehensive site evaluations, about 50 acres in the northern section were deemed suitable for development.

After a public-private partnership search, the Board selected Houston-based Early Bird to negotiate the project’s creation, citing their successful management of East River 9.

The envisioned development includes a nine-hole, par-3 course, driving range, practice areas, and restaurant, with night golf planned to broaden resident access.

The Board remains committed to environmental stewardship, requiring minimal tree removal, water conservation, and ensuring the new course stays visually discreet from Gosling Road.

Operations will be handled by a third party, while Township staff and Early Bird work to finalize terms focused on design, safety, and community access before Board review.

5 Trends in Heart Health Among Younger Adults: Why Your CoQ10 Level Matters

Heart disease is something many adults push to the back of their minds if they are not experiencing symptoms; a concern for “later” in life.

However, that mindset may be changing. New research suggests younger generations are thinking about their cardiovascular health earlier and with greater urgency.

They’re right to be thinking about it, too.

Data from the American Heart Association shows heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of Americans. In fact, someone dies from cardiovascular disease every 34 seconds in the United States.

Risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney disease are on the rise, too. Nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure (47%), and obesity (42%), and more than half (57%) have type 2 diabetes or prediabetes.

Despite growing concern about heart health, many adults remain unclear about their personal risk. In fact, a majority of respondents (62%) in a survey conducted by Atomik Research on behalf of Doctor’s Best said they don’t know their current risk for heart disease.

To provide context on these findings and highlight emerging heart health trends, Dr. Tania Elliott, a dual board-certified physician in internal medicine, offers some insights.

Feeling Fatigue

In the study, only 50% of respondents reported feeling energetic on a daily basis. Among those who reported feeling fatigued, 46% listed stress as their top perceived contributor, followed by insufficient sleep (38%), both of which are closely tied to cardiovascular health.

Troubling Symptoms

Among Gen Z respondents, 25% reported having shortness of breath during activity or while lying down, compared to just 16% of Baby Boomers, which is commonly associated with compromised heart health.

Statins and Youth

Statins, which help address cardiovascular risk factors such as high cholesterol, are among the most commonly prescribed drugs in America, with more than 92 million Americans currently taking them, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Although most survey respondents (76%) aren’t currently taking a statin, 17% of adults ages 25-34 reported using statin therapy, which is an unexpectedly high proportion given their age and the group’s low anticipated risk of cardiovascular disease.

Side Effects of Statins

Among those taking statins, which are considered a first-line treatment for treating high cholesterol and reducing heart disease risk, 54% reported experiencing side effects, particularly muscle pain (23%) and fatigue (31%). However, taking statins can also affect levels of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which supports cellular energy and cardiovascular function.

All About CoQ10

Cells use CoQ10 to produce energy and detoxify. Studies have shown people with heart failure who took CoQ10 had around a 50% reduction in mortality. Despite this, awareness is low. Nearly two-thirds (66%) of respondents had never heard of CoQ10 and that number jumps to 76% of adults ages 25-34. Additionally, only a small percentage of respondents (8%) who were on a statin reported having their CoQ10 level tested.

“We have a real opportunity to help younger adults take a more proactive approach to heart health,” Elliott said. “CoQ10 plays a critical role in cellular energy production and heart muscle function, and it can decline with age and statin use.”

Strategies to Support Heart Health.

While some risk factors for heart disease, like age and family history, are out of your control, you can make lifestyle changes to help lower your risk:

Eat Whole Foods: A heart-healthy eating plan includes plenty of lean proteins as well as fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains and foods high in omega-3s, such as salmon, nuts and plant oils.

Know Your CoQ10 Levels: If you’re low, look for a high-quality, bioavailable formula, which supports energy production and muscle function.

Get Moving: The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity per week to help control weight and lower the risk for conditions that negatively impact the heart.

Have a 'Hoppy' Easter with a Holiday Ham

When your kitchen is full of colorful eggs, candy baskets, tempting sweets and all that comes with Easter, sometimes a holiday classic is just the answer for simplifying the season. Perfect for pairing with deviled eggs, potato salad and a traditional Sunday feast, this Maple-Glazed Easter Ham provides a hands-off approach to the main dish.

With an easily prepared glaze and your oven doing most of the work, you can keep your attention on time spent with loved ones.

Maple-Glazed Easter Ham

Recipe adapted from Southern Living
Total time: 3 hours
Servings: 10

1          bone-in spiral-cut ham (8-9 pounds)

1          cup pure maple syrup

1/2       cup packed dark brown sugar

1/2       cup (4 ounces) bourbon

1/2       teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1/4       teaspoon ground cinnamon

orange slices and wedges, for garnish

            fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Place ham in large roasting pan and fill with 1/2 inch of water.

Cover pan with aluminum foil and bake about 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with juices from pan, until meat registers 120 F at thickest portion.

In medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stir maple syrup, brown sugar, bourbon, ginger and cinnamon; bring to boil.

Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 6-8 minutes.

Remove from heat. Cover to keep warm and set aside.

Remove ham from oven and discard foil. Increase oven temperature to 400 F.

Using pastry brush, glaze ham with 1/3 cup maple-bourbon mixture.

Bake ham about 30 minutes until top is lightly caramelized and meat registers 145 F at thickest portion, brushing with remaining glaze every 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and transfer ham to serving platter. Let rest 15 minutes and garnish with orange slices, orange wedges and rosemary sprigs.

5 Tips for New Pet Owners

Welcoming a new pet is exciting, but preparation is needed to provide a loving home and enjoy the unconditional love.

Prepare your furry friend for a new home with these essential tips for first-time pet owners.

Choose the Right Pet for Your Lifestyle
Consider your living situation, work schedule and personal preferences. Research different breeds to find the one that matches your activity level, living space and family dynamics. Also consider any allergies or sensitivities you or your family may have as some pets may trigger allergies or asthma symptoms.

Set Up Your Home
Before bringing your new pet home, create a safe and comfortable environment. Start by pet-proofing your home, removing any hazardous substances and securing loose wires or cords. Make sure to store cleaning supplies, medications and toxic plants out of reach. Provide a designated space that includes a cozy bed or crate, food and water bowls and toys.

Create a Routine
Establish a consistent schedule for feeding, exercise and bathroom breaks. Determine the appropriate amount and frequency of meals for your pet’s age, size and breed. Spend quality time with your pet daily, providing attention, affection and mental stimulation.

Budget for Your Pet’s Needs

Owning a pet comes with financial responsibilities. Consider the costs of food, grooming, veterinary care, vaccinations and preventive medications. Additionally, factor in the cost of toys, bedding, litter and other supplies.

Find a Reliable Veterinarian

Regular check-ups and open communication with a local veterinarian can help detect any potential health issues early and ensure your pet receives the best possible care. Ask friends, family or neighbors with pets for provider recommendations and read reviews. Visit potential veterinarians’ offices to meet the staffs, tour the facilities and ask any questions you may have.
