Township Election Results

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · The four Board seats, decided

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors election is done. Four at-large seats were on Tuesday's ballot — Positions 1, 2, 3, and 4, each a two-year term. Here's how your Board looks now.

★ The Results

Seat Winner The race
Position 1 Lee Wilson — 26,305 votes (100%) Unopposed — takes the seat held by Brad Bailey, who ran for the Texas House this cycle (and won it — see below).
Position 2 Linda Nelson — 26,543 votes (100%) Unopposed — returns for another term.
Position 3 Lisa Gilmore — 14,577 votes (44.56%) The night's only contested Township race — three candidates for the open seat. Nick Tran took 13,163 (40.24%) and Priscila Young 4,970 (15.19%). Gilmore wins without a majority, per the complete unofficial county tally.
Position 4 Craig Eissler — 26,020 votes (100%) Unopposed — returns for another term.

★ Texas & The County — Races That Reach Into The Woodlands

Beyond the Township, Woodlands voters also weighed in on the races that set the weather in Austin and Washington. Here is how each one finished — complete unofficial county tallies (all 121 precincts reporting) and the AP's statewide calls, checked Wednesday morning. County turnout: 260,209 of 487,460 registered voters — 53.38%.

Race Where it stands Why it touches The Woodlands
U.S. Senate — Texas James Talarico (D) wins statewide — AP called the race: 5,388,840 votes to Ken Paxton (R)'s 4,184,417, with about 96% of precincts reporting. Montgomery County went the other way: Paxton took 60.25% of the county vote. The statewide shocker of the night, and Texas gets a new senator: Paxton had beaten four-term Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican runoff, and a Talarico win is the first Democratic Senate win in Texas since 1988.
Governor — Texas Gina Hinojosa (D) wins statewide — AP called the race: 5,177,452 votes to Gov. Greg Abbott (R)'s 4,456,531, and Abbott conceded Tuesday night. Montgomery County backed Abbott with 62.63%. The Governor signs — or vetoes — everything Austin sends that lands on Woodlands homeowners, schools, and roads. Hinojosa is the first Democrat elected Texas governor since Ann Richards, and the first Latina to hold the office.
Texas House District 15 (our seat in Austin) Brad Bailey (R) wins — 45,484 votes (56.87%) to Moniqua' S. Scott (D)'s 31,979 (39.98%) and Jessi Cowart (L)'s 2,516 (3.15%), complete unofficial county tally. The most local Austin race on the ballot: an open seat (Rep. Steve Toth ran for Congress), and Bailey is our own Township Board Chairman — his win means the Board will elect a new Chairman when it reorganizes.
U.S. House — Districts 2 & 8 District 8: Jessica Hart Steinmann (R) wins — 71.75% of the county vote (89,849) over Laura Jones (D). District 2: Steve Toth (R) won the Montgomery County portion — 56.54% (74,185) over Shaun Finnie (D) — and led district-wide in the latest statewide tally; a formal district-wide call had not appeared in AP's county data at Wednesday-morning check time. First election under the new congressional map: the redrawn map splits Montgomery County between Districts 2 and 8, so which congressman represents your street may have changed with this vote.
Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough (R) re-elected — 166,182 votes (65.47%) to James Graf (D)'s 87,657 (34.53%), complete unofficial county tally. Graf conceded Tuesday night. The County Judge chairs Commissioners Court — county budget, tax rate, and the road money The Woodlands drives on. Keough's new four-year term begins in January 2027.

Commissioners Court note: The Woodlands' own precinct seat wasn't on this year's ballot; Precincts 2 and 4 were, both unopposed in the general election.

★ What This Board Actually Does

The Township Board is the closest thing The Woodlands has to a city council. These seven directors (Positions 5, 6, and 7 weren't up this year) set the Township tax rate and oversee the things you use every week: parks and pools, pathways, covenant enforcement, trash and recycling contracts, and the community's fire and law-enforcement agreements. Two-year terms, unpaid, elected by voters in both the Montgomery County and Harris County parts of The Woodlands.

★ What Happens Next

Results stay unofficial until the Township canvasses them — that's the formal step that makes them final. The re-formed Board then organizes at its next regular meeting, where the directors elect their own officers (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer) for the coming year — a seat to watch, with the current Chairman having run for the Texas House.

Thanks to everyone who voted — record early-voting lines told the story all week. Your regular issue lands next Wednesday as usual.
